Building A UX Lab

People who are planning to build a User Experience lab or interested in collaboration are visiting from all over. They are often intrigued by the 3D environment as well as those state of the art equipments we have in the lab, and often ask about what those fancy stuff can do for them. They believe those equipments are capable of capturing scientific data in a way human can never will.

I couldn’t agree more.

People seem to be more interested in creating a fancy space than finding the right people when they talk about building a lab. However, not everything can be measured with quantitative methods, and that’s where qualitative research comes in. A thorough research can sometimes still be done without advanced technology, as long as it is well planned.

A fancy lab is an add-on to research, not necessity.
